• "Adolf Schelter, Dear sir, another Schelter (Debbie Schelter Clemons of Florida) + myself are trying hard + a long time to understand the relationship of the Schelter name in Azberg + Wunsiedel (my grandfather Wilhelm (William) Christain Schelter born Wunsiedel (the town) 1878 + to USA abt 1895 to Chicago. He passed in 1939. Debbie Schelter Clemons has traced from Christopher Schelter of Azberg to South Bend, Indiana area + many schelters to follow. We are unable to make the Azberg/Wunsiedel connection. To me the towns look very close to each other in Germany. Many of our Schelter relatives are in a German cemetery in Chicago area. My grandfather Wilhelm Schelter was the son of George Schelter + Margaret Gebhardt; I know I have cousins in Marktredwitz from emails. My grandfather had a brother Heinrich Schelter (he + his father George were stone masons there once, I believe. I hope I'm not bothering you with these questions. • "Hello, Tracing Schelters who live in Marktredwitz, Germany; my parents Arthur William (1904-1985) + Virginia Schelter visited there twice. They met with Irmgard Schelter Rauch and her husband. Irmgard was the daughter of Wilhelm Schelter a shoemaker I believe. I believe he was the Son of Heinrich Schelter born Chicago, IL. 1873 - 1919 died Germany, the youngest brother of my grandfather. My grandfather was Wilhelm Christain Schelter born 1878 in Wunsiedel + died 1939 in Chicago. He is buried next to my father + mother in Skokie, IL. The Schelters were Lutheran I believe; My grandfather married Elizabeth Kirschenbauer of Blaibach, Germany in Chicago, IL. My father had 4 sisters, 3 of them have visited Wunsiedel area.
