First and foremost, I consider myself to be a problem solver who likes to help other people with their problems. I`ve been this way from a very young age, ever since I was able to look at the world around me and start figuring out how things actually worked. I`m currently a Sr. Programmer/Analyst, but I entered IT thru Operations (just to get my foot in the door, so to speak). I have an affinity for things electronic and while becoming an electronic engineer could have been my first choice, back when I was in HS, computer programming did not require any degree at all, let alone a 5 or 6 year bachelor degree. I`ve been in Information Technology for 30+ years, with just a few years here and there in other industries. When I started back in 1979, it was called Data Processing and always reported to the company`s Chief Financial Officer. These days, companies have a CIO to which all the various IT departments report. The majority of my IT carrier has been on IBM mid-range systems, starting with the IBM System 3 model 15D, the System/38, and (since 1989) predominately the AS/400 (a.k.a. iSeries, i5, and IBM i). My programming languages of choice are RPG /Free, ILE RPG, ILE COBOL, ILE CL, RPG IV, RPG/400, RPG III, COBOL, SQL, embedded SQL, VBA (Excel, Word, Outlook), JavaScript, HTML, and Gnu AWK. I`m something of a Guru when it comes to SQL, ILE RPG, and the As/400 platform itself. Though pretty much self-taught when it comes to Windows and PCs, I`ve built my last 5 gaming systems myself by purchasing the various components (motherboard, case, processor, memory, SSD HD, etc.) and assembling the whole thing myself and loading on Windows 7 (64-bit Ultimate). My most recent gaming system has a closed water-cooled pump for the processor. The next one I build will feature a reversed case and include an open water-cooled pump so that I can cool both the processor AND the GPU. That project may not be as far off as I`m thinking. My hobbies include movies, Japanese anime, reading (science fiction, supernatural romance, mysteries, thrillers, spy dramas), playing video games on my PC (World of Warcraft, Forge of Empires, Diggy`s Adventure), and helping my wife take care of our dogs and our chicken farm.
