I`m a `retired` kernel hacker and Unix enthusiast from a way WAY back (I used Unix for the first time in 1978 and did my first kernel hacking in 1979). I have never had a job title along the lines of Unix Sysadmin but I`ve done a fair bit of sysadmin over the years. I lectured in Computing Science a very long time ago. I have also presented a pretty wide variety of IBM AIX courses and have managed to write or update a few of them. Trivia: I wrote some kernel code about 25 years ago that ended up in the various BSD kernels of the day. From there it found its way into the Mac OS X and iOS kernels. Pseudo-random quote: That which works is better than that which doesn`t. I use the traditional MIT definition of hacker and consider that term to be far far too polite a moniker for someone who is breaking into computer systems. In real life, I am interested in all sorts of stuff including, in particular, history, travel, photography, and science.
