Evan “Folkestad†Wilson is my name. The “Folkestad†(pron. folk-uh-stAHd) is family history, and an interesting story about the perils of trying to change ones name. I am a mathematician, working in the area of algebra. My favorite brand of algebra is Lie algebra. From 1998 to 2002 I studied mathematics and computer science at Wheaton College (IL) obtaining a Bachelors of Science. From 2003 to 2005 I studied math at Virginia Commonwealth University, and received my Masters of Science in that field. From 2007 to 2012 I worked with Dr. Kailash C. Misra at North Carolina State University, getting a PhD in mathematics. From 2012 to 2014 I worked in Brazil as a post-doc at the University of São Paulo. My supervisor during that time was Dr. Vyacheslav Futorny. I am not fluent in Portuguese, but I try… Since then, I’ve worked at Rutgers University, Ursinus College, Lancaster Bible College, and Franklin & Marshall College. I have taught a variety of courses, mostly calculus flavored.
