I`ve been around a long time in the IT world. But sadly I don`t think I`ve ever become an expert in anything. Started off back in the days of punched cards and 5-1/2 floppy disks, loading greenbar paper and magnetic tapes. Worked my way thru a manufacturing company to become its Oracle DBA...only be be let go with 499 other fellow IT folk (after I`d been there 24+ years). Got a job working with Oracle Configurator but that company had cutbacks too, so low man on the totem pole...by then I`d turned 50. Tried to learn networking but I had no real background in it. Got a job at a trucking company under the guise of Oracle/Unix...neither of which were used there. A former coworker forwarded a headhunter to me and I`m now a middle level Data analyst, running, writing SSIS and SSRS packages. None of which I have a broad background in. I found StackOverflow at my prior job, trying to figure things out; it`s been my go-to page for any questions. Just an old dog trying to learn new tricks.
