Hello! Thank you for taking the time to look at my bio. I am a software engineer(React/React Native, JavaScript/Node, Python, DevOps) located in the Bay Area who has "lived many lives", including: working nights in a jail deciding who gets out, a barista at Pixar(lose the beard and I can pass as the guy from Ratatouille), documentarian in a West Oakland circus warehouse, studio & live sound engineer/producer, and touring musician/manager. As a child of the 80`s, I`ve had a simmering interest in technology since my parents brought home what`s probably the greatest computer that will ever be invented: the Apple IIGS. In the mid-90`s I was fascinated by DOS and that cool internet thin. I worked at Kinko`s and would design logos & flyers for my bands with Photoshop and build out Angelfire/Geocities pages. However it wasn`t until much later, actuated in part by some of the technologists at Pixar (and let`s be honest, a couple of absurdly over-paid programmers working for Pima County), that I considered seriously pursuing a career in technology. Now I build projects that are inspired by past work experiences. When I left the cafe the first application I built was an ordering application using React, Python, Stripe & Twilio because getting lunch at Pixar was complete chaos. I would catch myself thinking, "In a building full of technical and creative geniuses, how have we not figured out a better way than this cluster-fun of a system?". My newest project, TREAD, is a React Native mobile application inspired by my work in criminal justice and Google Maps telling me to walk down a sketch alleyway when Market Street was one block away. It connects to a crime mapping api and routes users down the safest path based on static data. I do a lot of instructional work on evenings and weekends because I have an insatiable appetite for new information, and every time I learn something new I just HAVE to share it. My experience as an instructor translates well to public speaking, and between working around murderers & celebrities I don`t feel a lot of apprehension in my interpersonal interactions. People are people. Other random things about me: I like yoga, doing yard work to relieve stress, LOVE bad movies (seen every MST3k & Rifftrax at least 3 times), and I obsess over my hops plants even though have yet to drink a beer made from them(because brewing beer is HARD!). I play guitar, piano, drums, mandolin and like to sing. Thanks for reading this far, I hope you have a super fantastic spectacular wonderful day/evening/night/weekend/solstice!
