I am a Ph.D student who uses photometric and spectroscopic observations to search for exoplanets and study eclipsing binary systems. I currently use a blend of python, C and CUDA to achieve this. One research avenue I am keen to explore is the GPU acceleration of exoplanet/binary studies. With the fast-approaching launch of TESS and other large ground-based observations, we are fast approaching a bottle-neck in analysing data with the CPU. I hope to develop GPU-accelerated models and fitting routines which can quickly make sense of the myriad of systems hidden amongst a large quantity of data which will be available to the budding astronomer soon.
