Hey. My name is Steven. Mathematics has three major branches, i.e. algebra, geometry and analysis. As a conscientious student, I find it important to be proficient at all three branches. The maths lessons that really bring back happy memories are ... (*) algebra: ring isomorphisms and ideals (*) geometry: analytic study of conics and quadrics (polar lines, asymptotes, conjugated diameters, etc.) (*) analysis: (pointwise and) uniform convergence of series of functions I`m trying to spend more time on solving math problems than reading textbooks. Solving problems is time consuming, but it is the only option if you want to master mathematics. My strengths are my physics background and my knowledge of the history of mathematics, especially the 19th century. The most challenging task for me is solving a partial differential equation. If I`m courageous, I spend time doing numerical computations for that purpose. I`m also trying to brush up my math vocabulary with topology and functional analysis. Besides mathematics, I like history and philosophy, especially the Old Greeks and early modern times. Classical music and paintings raise my cultural level and happiness.
