In the past, I started my academic career in geology and mining engineering but deeper introduction to computers and their capabilities opened a new door for me. During my years as a bachelor student in university, I started reading multiple books on computer science and computer engineering topics. My main focus of interest in computer science has been artificial intelligence because of its fast growth rate and its applicability to problems in various domains. This shift in interest has made me to follow another path in my studies in academia. Evolutionary computation was the main research topic amongst the fields related to artificial intelligence where worked on solving different problems in the context of static and dynamic optimization environments. Joining a start-up company made me go beyond the problems I have been familiar with in the academia (i.e. optimization) and delve into application of machine learning in various other problems such as credit risk scoring, sentiment analysis, text de-duplication and topic modelling. My personal academic and professional interest is the application of machine learning and optimization algorithms (specially nature-inspired and evolutionary algorithms) for solving real-world problems. Despite being a vivid Python, R and Java programmer (in Linux environment and mostly for numerical and statistical uses), As a side project I am also interested in the notion of [purely] functional programming in languages like Haskell, and consequently expanding the use of functional programming paradigm in engineering applications. Since fall 2017, I have been an official member of Iran`s National Elites Foundation. “Often a very old man has no other proof of his long life than his age.†― Seneca, On the Shortness of Life
