Historical: I’m a 14 Year Navy Veteran with specialty training and certifications in Medical Office Administration [HM-8424], as well as being a Surgical Technologist [HM- 8483]and Ear, Nose and Throat Technician. However, with my passion being in electronics, I honed my skills in Automated Data Processing [ADP] beginning in 1986 with the Bell-Howell Dual Disk Terminal, followed by the Zenith Z248 Dual Floppy Drive System. After building multiple systems with backplanes and 186 Intel Processors and 20MB MFM Drives while station at MCAS El Toro, I began learning, building and repairing Cyrix, AMD and Intel based Personal Computer Systems. Since the early days of 1989, I have gained experience with all levels of DOS from versions 1, 2, 3, 3.1, 3.11, 4, 4.1, 5, 5.5, 6, 6.1, 6.2, and with GUI Based Windows beginning with Win 95, Win 98, Win Mel, Win2K, Win XP, Win Vista, Win 7, Win 8, Win 8.1 and Win 10. Additionally, in 2010, I started working with Microsoft’s Server Software; Server 2008, Server 2008R2, Server 2012, Server 2012R2 and now Server 2016. In regards to programming with Microsoft Products, I’ve written countless lines of code in Visual Basic for Applications – VBA. I initially started around 2003 with Microsoft Access 2000 and then expanded to Microsoft Excel. Web Developer: My initial foray into web development began in 1995 while stationed at MCAS El Toro and we needed a web page for the Wing Surgeon [for the non-military, MCAS El Toro was the home base of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing]. So, with the use of Microsoft Front Page, I created a site with about 4 pages. The Medical Dept’s website was crude, but it was functional. From 1998 until roughly 2006, I did little in the way of web development, I focused more on application program development. That all changed in August 2006 when I need to supplement my income. I started with a Yahoo Store selling car stereos and amps through www.cannonsoundworks.com. In working with Yahoo, the web development programming language was RTML, not HTML. That took some getting used to. I transitioned from Yahoo Stores and RTML to OsCommerce using PHP/MySQL and regular HTML. Then from 2007 through 2009, I used pure HTML/Flash/JavaScript to build various sites. In 2010, I started using WordPress. My 1st WordPress site was for Care For The Children [www.care4thechildren.org] using StudioPress Access Theme. As the Senior Developer for TLG Marketing, my understanding of web development has substantially broadened as the world of web presence, social interactivity and mobile communication continually changes. With the average time on page being 3 seconds or less, being on the forefront of change is paramount to being a successful and effective developer. I’m enjoying the journey.
