I live in Durbanville,South Africa and am considering emigrating for better prospects for my family. After learning about Linux in 2016, as a possible alternative to sacrificing our privacy for connectivity, by going the open source route rather, I decided to install Ubuntu 18.4 on my new laptop as my primary OS after only watching a few videos. Over the next two years (ongoing) I watched many tutorials, fiddled with the terminal, watched numerous Ubuntu videos until late into the night. I`m getting the hang of it with glee. I am now enrolling at a college at age 50 to get my CompTIA A+ and Linux A+ certification because I am so taken with it I`m changing career. My goal for the last year and a bit has been to get a job as an Linux administrator and eventually emigrate. About a week ago I was trying to improve my almost non existent wifi signal and after following a sequence of code suggested by someone, my entire wifi adapter disappeared off the interface. For a week I had a tail,(LAN cable) Then I decided I was going to sit down and not get up until I had repaired it. Three hours later it was back. I then fixed the other drivers for the wifi extender and now it works all over the house. I feel like Pinky and the brain. Very exciting, and just the type of community I`d love to be a part of. Something refreshing in this strange world>
