Hello, my name is Jacob Menchak. I have a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, a minor in Data Acquisition & Industrial Controls, and about 5 years of professional work experience. I am currently enrolled as a student in the Rutgers University Data Science & Visualization Program (Nov 4th, 2019 ~ May 15th, 2020): I have been seeking resources for the past few months to learn the skills and technologies required for data analytics. I am eager to pursue data science as a field of work and I think this Rutgers data science boot camp is the perfect opportunity for me to learn these skills. I am very determined to pursue data science as a career and I am driven and self-motivated to achieve my career goals. This data science boot camp will provide me with valuable resources and help me achieve these goals. My most recent employment was with Amazon Fresh, working as an Area Manager at an Amazon Fresh Fulfillment Center. In this role, I gained valuable insight and experience in the areas of warehouse safety & operations management, food safety & food handling, and supply chain management. I have developed skills that enable me to tackle and resolve a variety of warehouse problems, conduct root cause analysis, improve processes & procedures, and meet operations targets. I have also worked as an Operations Manager (~2 months, per business need) at Amazon Fresh, where I fulfilled all operations management responsibilities in addition to those of my own as an Area Manager. While managing a large team of ~100+ associates and processing ~65k+ units/shift, I have learned to promote and support team collaboration to maximize associate productivity and process efficiency. I have trained, coached, and mentored my Amazon associates and colleagues on safety and operations topics to improve our site`s safety metrics and team performance. In my previous work experience as a Technical Support Engineer with Honeywell UOP (Universal Oil Products), I was responsible for answering customers` questions, diagnosing and resolving their technical issues, and providing them with the critical resources they needed to get their operations up and running again. In this role, I collaborated with cross-functional teams of Technical Specialists, and Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, & Controls Engineers to resolve technically complex customer problems. I strongly believe in providing customers with products and services of the highest quality and an exceptional customer experience. Working directly with customers and suppliers under great pressure to deliver has honed my communication and technical problem-solving skills, while strengthening my crisis management ability. I am driven, dependable, and detail oriented. I have an analytical mindset and I can grasp information quickly. I believe I have the necessary ambition, work ethic, and leadership skills to be successful in my next role! Thank you, Jacob Menchak
