Desktop Support by day, but it`s not all Hardware / Software Installs and configurations. Have written and maintain a few dozen scripts:(Batch/VBscritps/PowerShell) that make my team`s life easier most are driven by a VB.net program that lets us search our computer/user lists using any several fields. After selecting a Computer or User we then choose one of the many scripts we want to run against the Computer or the User`s AD account. This automates many and eliminates some of the repetitive and mundane functions, that are a big part of Desktop Support. Also have written a set of VBScripts that Audit Software/Hardware and store this data in a SQL database that is then accessed via a website written using .asp scripts. Programmer by night: My previous day jobs were all software - Development, maintenance and sometimes canned software support spanning IBM Mainframe (CoBOL DB/2 CICS, SAS etc in the MVS / now ZOS world), then Later Client Server work (.Net , ASP webwork with SQL databases. Then finally a few years ago I traded the programming jobs in for a Programming/PC support role at a small local hospital that enabled me to get a life outside of work by reducing my daily commute from over 3 hours a day down to 40 minutes. (yes I live in the sticks and now I work in the sticks!) Hobbies: Programming / Automating things some for my other favorite hobby - Amateur Radio (NE5B), Photography, Motorcycle touring, and things that keep me outdoors.
