On Monday July 27 2020, David Simpson from the United States left the following message for Arie Rashkes:
"I am the son of Leonard P. Simpson and the grandson of Rose Asch Simpson, who was the sister of your grandmother Golde, who my wife and I visited in Israel many years ago. Your father and my father were therefore first cousins. I had not seen your father for many years, I saw him when he visited New York, at the home of our mutual cousin, Toby Asch, now deceased. I learned from The Internet of your father's death, and also that he had a son who has lived in this country for many years. I also learned that you translated the book, Days of Lead, a copy of which in Hebrew your father had given me many years ago, and which I will now be able to read. We have a small family, of the members of your grandmother's generation, all of whom but Golde emigrated to the United States, there were very few offspring of whom just a few are alive today. Of your grandmother's generation, there were only five children born in this country, and only three of us are alive today. I have three children, and three grandchildren, my brother, who has lived in Rome for the past almost 50 years has two children (a third child was killed in a terrorist attack at the Rome Airport in 1986). My cousin Sylvia, who is the daughter of Toby (with whom your father would visit), also has three children. I hope that you will respond, and in any case I send you kindest regards and condolences on the death of your father. David. I would be most interested to meet you and your family, if that is of any interest to you. I am essentially now retired, but live in Tenafly NJ. It would give me great pleasure if this would be of any interest to you."
David Simpson left an e-mail address and a telephone number.
