I am a Graduate Student of Management Information Systems and recently interned as a Data Analyst in the Upstream Research team with Wood Mackenzie, an Energy Consulting Firm. Here, I enjoyed participating in the data gathering and analysis process and generating insightful visualization, to track the present-day activity of all the oil and gas drilling rigs and their movement across the United States. Using a technology stack including Python, Apache Kafka, Amazon S3, AWS Lambda, Spotfire, Google Protobuf and Elasticsearch, I gained a deeper understanding into data collection, data wrangling and streaming the data through an analysis phase. This exposure at work provided me with an opportunity to learn deeper in the fields of Data Analysis, Business Intelligence and Application Development. In my previous semester, I worked on creating a data warehousing solution using SSIS, SSAS, SSRS and Tableau to answer key business questions for the failure of a Chicago based retail chain, Dominick’s Finer Foods, producing several data marts, providing analytics on its OLTP data and generating dashboard reports. This project was interesting and fun to explore the business intelligence and development side by using my skills in data analytics. Before starting my Graduate program, I gained a little over 2 years of experience working as a Technology Associate at Sapient, a technology consulting firm. In my role of a software developer in Java, I gained exposure to an end-to-end process of software development lifecycle. This included analyzing requirements, participating in technical design discussions, understanding the middleware architecture and implementing and testing my modules in an Agile model. My experience with the technology stack centers around Java, Python, SQL, C++, R, JavaScript, AngularJS, AWS, SSIS, SSAS, Tableau, Elasticsearch, Kafka, Google Cloud Platform and Atlassian project management tools.
