Jerome Foster II is the youngest ever White House Advisor, joining at age 18; his role as an Environmental Justice Advisor to President Joe Biden includes advising on how to equitably and swiftly decarbonize America. Jerome Foster II is an environmental justice activist, voting rights advocate, and emerging technology engineer. He is the founder and executive director at Waic Up, an international `news to impact` non-profit organization working to both organize alongside communities to create change while simultaneously working to spread awareness of civic causes through journalism and art. Born and raised in Washington DC, Foster has played important roles in various levels of policy advocacy, as an intern for the late Civil Rights leader and Congressman, John Lewis and as a Board Member for the Washington DC State Board of Education. Foster has studied at Harvard University with a focus on International Environmental Policy and Advanced Calculus. Some of Foster`s impact can be seen in his involvement with the passage of the Clean Energy DC Omnibus Act (one of the most comprehensive decarbonization bills being implemented in the United States) or in his recommendations to make Environmental Justice Education a core subject in all schools. He is one of the lead organizers of the Fridays For Future youth climate strike movement, spearheaded by Greta Thunberg, holding weekly climate strikes in front of the White House and Harvard University for over 80 weeks. For the first climate strike in February of 2019, he mobilized over 400 students to raise their voices. Later in 2019, Jerome Foster advised Jane Fonda to kickstart Fire Drill Fridays, a campaign to encourage older generations to support climate action and to make environmental justice mainstream. His experience in climate activism extends further via his work National Geographic, where he worked as Icelandic Climatology Researcher and Virtual Reality Developer and with his passion for computer programming and emerging technology, at age 14 winning 3rd place at the World Series of Entrepreneurship for creating a civic-based virtual reality organization.
