I have been programming for 25 years. I have a Bachelor of Technology Management degree from the Pennsylvania College of Technology. There, I learned Turbo Pascal and Cobol programming. I have never used either of them in a work situation. Immediately out of college, however, I wrote an in depth scheduling program for a home health care company in one of the first versions of Foxpro for Windows. I then spent a couple of years building and repairing computers. It was around then that the internet started to take off and I got a job at a local ISP doing tech support. While there, they needed some programming so I taught myself PERL in order to solve their problems. I also worked as their webmaster developing sites using using Dreamweaver. I was in charge of several Solaris and Windows servers and did some work with their Cisco routers. I started doing SQL programming initially with PERL dbm and later with PHP. I have been using PHP and MYSQL to develop projects since. In 2002 I started my own company and I have done work independently and as an employee for many companies throughout this period. Linux has been my primary development platform since the early 90s and I have a high level of knowledge with it. I prefer creating systems from scratch, but, I have spent a lot of time doing maintenance and updates to other people`s code. Working with a intuitive team is always better, but I am the type of person that will get the job done on my own if need be. I often find myself in a position where I have to do an entire project from beginning to end without any other developers. I try to evolve with the latest technology and I have been working on Android and IOS apps recently. Also, I use responsive frameworks for all new sites. Over the course of my career, I have done just about anything you can think of and I can build a system, install the os, set up the environment and write a complete application from scratch. Tell me what you need and I`ll come up with a solution.
