Hello, I really appreciate your time for reading this information. Following are some details of my experience and knowledge that would benefit the company when hiring me. • I have a lot of experience analyzing events, incidents and problems and finding a solution for them. It requires an understanding of how things relate each other and a knowledge of the technologies being used to determine the reasons and possible solutions. • I`m a GNU/Linux expert. Have worked with Unix as well, but I`m not an expert, as I have worked much more with GNU/Linux. Have used VMware and Xen for a period of time previous to starting with AWS, which I’ve been mastering for over 8 years. • I use and have used many different monitoring tools such as Nagios, Cacti, SNMPD and Splunk to identify issues and to resolve them automatically and also to be notified when something goes wrong. You have the ability to see the history of processes/servers and to identify the reasons why something may have gone wrong, or when it will go wrong. I have written many different checking processes to be able to guarantee the services high-availability. • The last 8 years I have been working as a DevOps and GNU/Linux System Administrator for a company which delivers a software for different customers. • I`m very good writing Bash and Python scripts. I used to use Perl previously, but I haven`t used it in the past 3 years, anyway I`m still a perl user and know about it. I have programmed in Java as well, but I`m not an expert, it may require some time to get used to it, but I`m always welcome to new challenges. • As a Senior System Administrator I understand about services and networking. • My fundamental principle is to teach others the way of doing things by doing them myself. They will learn of someone who teaches with the examples and not just words. I`m a very empathic person. • In the last 8 years, I was the only person working as DevOps/System Administrator for the company, so I fully understand about ownership and understand to deliver work to other people to help the company deliver its products. • Actually, working for one of the biggest banks in the US we have many different teams which needs to interact to make everything work properly. A bank is a place where a break down is unacceptable and we have to follow all the procedures to prevent it. We follow ITIL practices to provide the best service. • I have experience with automation. I have worked with Docker, Vagrant, Terraform, Jenkins, Chef and Ansible, building auto-configurable systems to scale up or down to guarantee high-availability. I hope this message clarifies my background and present and is useful for what you`re looking for. Let me insist that I`m always open to learn new technologies and accept new challenges. Looking forward to hearing back from you. Kindly, Marcos F. Villa
