About one year to date, I hit the ground running with programming and haven`t looked back! Attended and graduated from App Academy in the Spring of 2020, racking up over 1000 hours of coding experience in the process. Since graduating I`d say I accumulated 1000 more, as I build upon my expertise in the technologies learned at App Academy via pouring over the docs, coding challenges, other courses and perhaps the most effective learning tool, implementation of it all in my projects. As an aspiring actor for a number of years, I had a gamut of side "survival" jobs. This included being on the roster for a bunch of catering companies over the years, until I decided I only wanted to cater for Pinch Food Design. The other companies for the most part had nice people and I got along with them -- the scene where a captain scolds the waiter for not moving fast enough, or bringing the Chardonnay to the wrong guest is a relic of the past (save for one or two isolated experiences). At Pinch I felt something more than just nice people. These were amazing people, many whom would become good friends of mine. The captains never seem like looming figures dishing out orders, but rather an equal who wants to see you succeed and will provide constant positive reinforcement on even the smallest accomplishments. Of course, at the end of the day it`s still catering. After several years of doing this kind of work, I just needed something more challenging and rewarding. And that`s when I dove full force into software development.
