Roald Schrack was born in Ft. Meade, FL in 1926. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in applied physics from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1950 and the Ph.D. degree in physics from the University of Maryland in 1961. U.S. Army 1945-1946, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 1949-1994. Guest Scientist and consultant at NIST 1995-2017. He is the author of over a hundred publications on a wide variety of subjects including nuclear sizes, neutral meson photoproduction, neutron resonance radiography, neutron cross sections, x-ray microscopes, electronic equipment, snow crystals, computer simulation, and computer control of experiments. He has over 500 citations He has carried out experiments at the NIST reactor and at accelerators at NIST, Oak Ridge and Los Alamos. As a consultant he played a major role in the development of a proprietary x-ray source for a DARPA contract. Dr. Schrack is a member of the American Physical Society, IEEE, and Sigma Xi. Dr. Schrack was a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University 1964-1965 and received the Department of Commerce Silver Medal and an IR100 award in 1982 .
