I started college in 2003 and continued until 2006. During this time I worked for the Tech Web Department, for 22 hours a week, that handled outside web design for clients of the college. My responsibility was to take a design built through photoshop and convert it to HTML and CSS to produce a finished site. I enjoyed my responsibilities and continued until I was near the end of my college career. Due to our increasing family size, I was forced to look for full-time work and took a temporary job at a car dealership as a service adviser. That was 12 years ago. I have been in the car industry ever since. I supervise a team of 5 including myself that handle all incoming service calls for one of the largest car dealerships in Virginia. I manage all emails and service leads that come in directed towards the service department. I am considered a service manager on the telephone, and I manage dozens of customers a week that are calling in upset or are in situations that a management touch is required. I am the first manager in line to deal with customer issues. I would venture to say that I handle 65% to 75% of upset customers that never have to be escalated to one of my fellow service managers. During that time I have always kept up with the latest web design technology and have worked projects for myself and others to keep my knowledge sharp. This year I decided I am ready to push that knowledge farther and pursue my dreams of being a front-end web developer. I have dug in and started studying Javascript, Wordpress theme development, PHP and getting myself up to speed with Bootstrap. I am currently working on Node.js with express and Mongo DB to create some personal projects for my portfolio. I have strong Photoshop skills, I can hold my own in Illustrator when related to web design, and I have been getting acquainted with XD. If you are looking for a dedicated worker that is passionate about learning, that will catch on quickly, help a team grow and bring valuable life skills to the table then please contact me. Even if I am not the person for you, but you would like to pass along some advice to help get me there, please send me an email. I have confidence that I will have much success as a front-end developer and I will put in the hard work and dedication to make sure that happens. Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and I hope I will hear from you soon.
