Farmwall is an AgTech start up operating in Melbourne and Sydney that was established by Geert Hendrix in October 2016. Farmwall is on a mission to ‘transform our cities into food producing ecosystems’ through implementing innovative urban farming solutions and experiences into our urban environments. The Farmwall is our flagship design, it is a small-scale indoor vertical farm that uses aquaponic principles to create a natural ecosystem that can grow produce sustainably. The Farmwall itself has a fish tank on the bottom which circulates nutrient rich water throughout multiple shelves, holding produce supported full spectrum LED grow lights. The Farmwall was originally designed to mitigate excessive packaging waste and food miles associated with herbs and microgreens within the hospitality industry - providing chefs with the freshest produce, and the patrons with a unique dining experience. Since then we have branched into the workplace market, providing employees with self-serve access to nutrient rich microgreens in the office, boosting wellbeing and enhancing the building sustainability. We look to move into universities and schools, to use Farmwall as an educational tool for students and teachers, while shaking up the cafeteria with speciality produce. Farmwall has recently entered into a partnership with a large scale developer who can provide the capacity for broader urban farming solutions as well as access to commercial scale within the office and residential market.
