I have recently made a somewhat drastic career shift, committing to a Drupal project, with the expectation of working with React js, subsequently. This was preceded by working primarily with PHP since 2005, using PHP 4.*. At that time, I used it as a script to retrieve database information. I was primarily a from end developer at that time. That changed in 2010 when, as a business need, I had to build the front and back end of an online sales app in a very short period of time. I progressed from there to building full stack applications. From 2012 to 2015, working in a pharmaceutical marketing firm, I began incorporating MVC principals into my PHP coding. The project I`m proudest of over that time was building the database an APIs to support remote medical lectures. In 2016 I did a migration from PHP 4.4.6 to PHP 5.6.8, which taught me a lot about the development of the language. I went on to write REST APIs for a year, which completely changed my approach to development and my beliefs about the future of software development in general. Information doesn`t need to be tied to an interface at all. My recent shift was driven by a desire to see how the front-end side of software development has changed, as I`ve done very little of that kind of work since 2015.
