I had the good fortune of being able to fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming a game developer when I worked as an Associate Game Designer and Scripter on the main design team for Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Unfortunately, I didn`t find the gaming industry to be a good fit for me in the long term. After leaving Treyarch in February of 2013, I decided to leverage my extensive programming experience and refocus myself on training in Full Stack Development independently. In the spring of 2014, I moved to Tokyo and co-founded A-Ok Education with an experienced teacher and teacher trainer. We provided English and French language instruction to private students, at local colleges, and on-site training for corporate clients. Starting in 2017, I built a cloud based platform to manage and facilitate providing these services on the Japanese market. Our long-term plan was to provide it as an SaaS product for freelance teachers and to help modernize the operations of other small to medium sized English schools. My partners at A-Ok Education decided at the beginning of 2018 that they wanted to reduce the scope of the company to just providing language instruction, which was more comfortable to them coming from a purely educational background, and abandon the SaaS platform. I`m currently separating from A-Ok Education and no longer perform any day-to-day tasks for the company. What I like most about software development is solving problems for people. I certainly enjoy learning new languages and technologies and am excited about the future of development in its own right. Yet, my entrepreneurial experience has taught me to temper my enthusiasm for new technology with a focus on business objectives. I`m never more satisfied with my job than when providing a valuable service to empower end users or building a new tool to streamline processes for employees to focus more on the job they were really hired to do. If you believe I can be an asset, please don`t hesitate to contact me.
