I am a senior software engineer with 20 years’ experience developing multi-tier and multi-user applications utilising a range of Microsoft software development technologies from VB v4.0 to .NET 4.5. Healthcare software has been my primary industry over the last 16 years. Designing, developing and supporting desktop and intranet applications for a range of hospitals in New Zealand, USA and the UK including multi-user, multi-tier, data driven, client-server applications supporting many thousands of consecutive users for a variety of specialities, both clinical and administrative. My passions are DevOps, cloud services integration and infrastructure automation (Desired State Configuration, Chef) with a focus on the Microsoft family of tools and technologies (Windows Server, Azure). I have a strong background in Windows PowerShell and Desired State Configuration as well as several other DevOps/CI/CD technologies (AppVeyor, MS Visual Studio Team Services, Jenkins, Git/GitHub, GitLab) providing DevOps and infrastructure automation for both on premises and cloud based IaaS and PaaS environments. Currently I hold a Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) in Windows Server 2012 and am working towards an Azure Solutions Architect certification (MCSD). I am an active contributor to the Microsoft PowerShell and PowerShell Desired State Configuration (DSC) community, as well as maintaining several of my own open source PowerShell projects and a blog where I post regular PowerShell and DevOps related articles.
