My name is Ray Decker Jr., also known by people on the internet as RVY. I am a self-taught programmer as well as a self-proclaimed "coding wizard." I began teaching myself programming when I was fourteen years old. I read a book on game development and game engine development from cover to cover. I used my love for gaming to fuel my passion for programming and computer languages in a lifelong journey to expand my skills. My family has been restricted to DSL internet speed, and the internet was nothing like how it is today. Back then, Youtube wasn`t loaded with millions of videos on how to write "Hello World" in C++, Udemy hadn`t been invented, and the place to learn to program, that is, if you weren`t in college, was either by self-discipline, failure, and practice, or hours of reading, researching, failure, and practice. I didn`t start to take my abilities seriously until I discovered the Unity Game Engine. With the help of Udemy and Youtube, I developed my skills in Javascript (when it was supported) and C#. I learned C++ on and off with Visual Basic, developing software for "independent persons" as well as practicing with the Unreal Engine. Java came easier to me than C++, but all of my programming skills came with hard work and years of boot camp-style education. I am currently working on several individual projects in various programming languages. Please check out my GitHub for some of my more basic programs.
