Elena Hahn Kiam has focused both professionally and philanthropically on creating opportunities for others, particularly those who are entering the workforce or at career crossroads. As co-owner of lia sophia, she spearheaded a direct sales business which provided tens of thousands of women with entrepreneurial earnings opportunities. She currently is reinventing lia sophia for the next generation through an ecommerce platform. An active board member at several non-profit organizations, including Dress for Success which assists disadvantaged women transitioning into the workplace, her local “Yâ€, and the Nightingale-Bamford school, a K-12 girls school, she has innovated ways for people of all ages to meet the demands of the ever-changing economic environment. A committed volunteer for Harvard, Kiam has worked with the Harvard College Fund (HCF), serving as chair of her College Class’s 25th and 30th reunions and as a member of the HCF Executive Committee. Kiam recently piloted a new initiative to engage New York City alumnae in building community and reconnecting with the University. “Harvard has been an integral part of my life, both while as a student and now as a volunteer, and continues to expose me to inspiring people. The HAA is uniquely situated to help all of our fellow graduates from the University connect with one another, and I welcome the opportunity to do all I can to foster those relationships.†She and her husband, Tory Kiam ’82, live in New York and have three children.
