I started my career as a programmer in the California Bay Area where I grew up. Over the course of time I gravitated more and more toward infrastructure automation and solving problems of scale and manageability. I have had the very fulfilling experience of starting from scratch - forming ideas and following through on them to full implementation. In the process I often find myself in many roles for example: DataCenter Architect/Engineering Lead at JPMorganChase, Solutions Architect at IBM, Cloud Engineering at Redhat and Chief Technologist and programmer at Bootnode an OpenStack based open source project where I was one of the founding members. As I “evolved†in my career I often found myself not just doing the hands on work but also teaching others about different aspects of technology, something I love to do and comes to me very naturally. For instance, explaining to a C level executive why infrastructure standards will make or break their business or speaking at conferences and proliferating good technology. As a hands on engineer I always find that I always start with my own vision/solution to solve a given problem that is presented to me. Many times I start with technologies I know can solve the problem but may not be an expert in it. With fifteen plus years of solid linux experience I find that most IT technology is fairly easy to learn and master if - I dare use that word. I often find myself teaching peers both deeply technical and otherwise about new approaches for solving existing problems. I love to teach and speak about technology. I enjoy creating technical content in the form of hands on labs, technical illustrations, videos or live Q&A session. My love for doing this has given me the opportunity of training hundreds maybe even thousands of developers, architects and sales engineers throughout the world. In order to teach someone about technology you must first understand it deeply yourself. I am a constant tinkerer both in my garage workshop or in my terminal shell. I believe experimentation is a way of life for a curious individual like myself. My passion for innovation often leads me into uncharted territory - a place I enjoy to be in as long as I can continue to be a productive and happy person while doing so. I have had the pleasure of holding lead engineering roles at Chase Bank, IBM and Redhat where I was able to not only teach, develop and innovate but also evangelize my deep love for open source technology.
